Executives from Mercer Bank facilitated Career Day at Sojourner Truth School in honor of Black History Month. Seventh and eighth grade students had the opportunity to hear from successful professionals including Sandra Pemberton, Senior Client Manager, Maritza Walters, Entrepreneur, and Colonel Jemal Beale who each shared their stories of perseverance and resilience to inspire our students. Mercer Bank corporate partners coached students in small groups to write career plans to set them on the path to future success. M149 students are preparing to make the Harlem Community proud. Watch out world!
In celebration of Black History Month, mentors from Goldman Sachs partnered with Sojourner Truth School's 4th and 5th graders to read the inspiring stories of African American historical figures. Students then created Dream Boards to set personal goals and identify steps toward achieving their dreams.
Thanks to our hydroponic garden, Sojourner Truth School students can enjoy salads made from the crops they carefully tend throughout the year. This month, students raised kale, chard, basil, and bell peppers under the leadership of Ms. Ambarsom, Science Teacher.
